Food
Microalgae are a promising source of protein and have many other advantages, providing a concentrate of essential nutritional benefits (vitamins, minerals, nutrients, etc.). SCALE will make people more aware of the numerous benefits of microalgae and ensure the wide adoption of microalgae-based food products and their inclusion into nutrition habits.
These activities will be implemented through the collaboration of MICROPHYT and Institut Paul Bocuse Research Centre.
Food supplements
SCALE will pave the way to diversify the offer of microalgae-based food supplements in many segments such as cognition, sports nutrition, weight management, joint health, digestive comfort and overall immunity, providing safe products with nutritional and health benefits for the end user.
These activities will be implemented through the collaboration of MICROPHYT and HEDELAB.
Feed
The need for protein sources for livestock, especially for aquaculture, is a major environmental concern. In fact, microalgae can replace part of the feed for livestock which currently consists mainly of animal meal, containing antibiotics and chemicals, and vegetable meal. SCALE will produce microalgae-based extracts that can be used as a healthier alternative.
These activities will be implemented through the collaboration of MICROPHYT and LALLEMAND ANIMAL NUTRITION.
Cosmetics
SCALE will foster the use of active microalgae-based compounds by cosmetic brands in their products, in line with the growing interest for replacing synthetic ingredients by natural compounds. SCALE will pave the way for diversifying the offer in microalgae-based cosmetic products: anti-aging, sensitive skin, anti-pollution, blue light prevention, hydrating, firming, antiacne, whitening, slimming, glowing effect, anti-wrinkles, hair care, tanning booster, barrier protective, active make- up, skin microbiota.
These activities will be implemented through the collaboration of MICROPHYT and CHANEL PARFUMS BEAUTÉ.
